You won’t be able to have another anime night without anime meat. Trust this baka gaijin.

If you’ve ever watched anime for any extensive amount of time, you know exactly what this is. This is anime meat, also known as manga meat. It has existed only in anime and manga and now it’s very real and ready for your table. I used a red miso and honey based glaze, but if you want to make this an even faster fix, grab your favorite bottle of barbeque sauce or bottled asian marinade. I won’t judge.

This is a hearty meal, and when served with sides, just one of these meat logs can feed a family of four. But, let’s be honest. This isn’t meant for serving with sides. This is meant to be eaten by itself like every anime character you’ve ever watched in your life. That’s why there’s three. Each one of these tasty meats makes a personal serving… if you don’t believe in things like shame or calories. I find these things to be myth and slander, so I’ll hold mine high with you! Fatties unite! And let there be anime!

Serves 3-8 (depending on shame)

Prep Time: 15 mins  |  Cook Time: 1 hour 10 mins  |  Total Time: 1 hour 25 mins

  • 5 Lbs Pork Loin
  • 3 Turkey Leg Bones
  • 4 Tbsp Red Miso Paste
  • 4 Tbsp Honey
  • 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 Tsp White Pepper
  • 1/2 Tsp Garlic Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Five Chinese Spice

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Slice your pork loin into 3 even segments. Take each segment and with a steak knife make a small “X” through the core of the meat. Insert the turkey bones into each piece of meat so the ends are sticking out evenly on both sides.

Step 2. Combine your red miso paste, honey, black pepper, white pepper, garlic salt, 5 Chinese spice, and brown sugar in a small bowl and mix until it forms a smooth even paste. Using a brush, apply to each piece of meat.

Step 3. Place your meat in a glass baking dish and bake in the oven on the middle rack for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Remove, let cool, and serve.
