Chocolate Peanut Butter Crisp Bars

These Chocolate Peanut Butter Crisp Bars are a dessert you’ll want to make by the dozen. I combined two of my favorite childhood things into one sweet delicious concoction; Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups meets Rice Krispies Treats! I’m pretty sure these things can cure depression, bad credit scores, and smallpox. They’ll also grant you super-human happiness and, if consumed by the dozen, love handles. Very happy, pleasurably achieved, love handles. Emphasis on love.

This is a very tedious recipe in terms of wait time, but so worth it. The part that added the most time was using the heart shaped cookie cutter. If you’re not making these for Valentine’s Day, then these will actually go quite a bit faster, especially if you’re really lazy and just go for the good ol’ amoeba shape. Cutting them out with the heart shaped cookie cutter was a bit of a hassle because it was an older one with an almost completely closed top, so I was prying these out with a fork and retouching the shape. But, after a bit of time, voila! Chocolate Peanut Butter Crisp Bars for everyone’s enjoyment, and well worth the wait. Good luck, and enjoy!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Crisp Bars Recipe

Serves 3

Prep Time: 20 mins  |  Cook Time: 13 mins  |  Total Time: 1 hour 8 mins

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Butter
  • 20 Large Marshmallows
  • 3 Cups Rice Krispies
  • Peanut Butter
  • 1 Cup Chocolate Chips

Step 1. In a large sauce pan melt the butter on medium-low heat. Add your marshmallows and stir frequently until completely melted. Once melted and smooth, remove from heat, and add your Rice Krispies. Stir to evenly coat and then move them to a non-stick baking sheet. Use another non-stick baking sheet to press the Rice Krispies Treats flat. Let cool.

Step 2. Using a cookie cutter cut the heart shapes out of the sheet of Rice Krispies Treats. Spread your peanut butter on the top of the treats and place them all in the freezer for 45 minutes (this will firm up your peanut butter so it doesn’t come off in your chocolate).

Step 3. Melt your chocolate chips in the microwave on medium power, stirring frequently, until smooth and creamy. Remove your treats from the freezer and then dip them in the chocolate. Slide them out of the bowl towards the lip to get a nice smooth top. Let cool/harden and serve.
